Pressure & Heat
Aggressive pressure and heat can disturb tiles, weaken weathered surfaces, strip protective coatings and force water into areas that should remain dry.
Roofer-Led Cleaning / London
Most roof cleaning companies use high-pressure washers or steam equipment. At RoofHQ, we don’t — and there’s a very good reason for that. As experienced roofers, we have seen first-hand the damage that aggressive pressure and heat can cause to roof coverings. Tiles disturbed, weathered surfaces weakened, protective coatings stripped away, and deterioration accelerated significantly. In the worst cases, aggressive cleaning shortens the life of a roof that could have lasted many more years with the right treatment.
RoofHQ cleans roofs using a careful manual scraping and soft-wash process — a gentler, more sympathetic approach that removes moss, lichen and organic growth properly without putting the roof at risk. It’s the approach that experienced roofers use, because we understand how roofs are built and how they should be cared for.
The RoofHQ Approach
RoofHQ uses careful manual removal followed by an appropriate low-pressure soft-wash treatment, because the cleaning method should respect the roof covering rather than attack it.
Aggressive pressure and heat can disturb tiles, weaken weathered surfaces, strip protective coatings and force water into areas that should remain dry.
Heavy moss, lichen and organic growth are removed carefully by hand before an appropriate soft-wash treatment is applied at low pressure.
Our Process
We begin by manually removing heavy moss, lichen and organic growth using equipment suited to the specific roof covering. This removes the bulk of the growth carefully, without the force that pressure washing applies to the surface.
Once the heavy growth has been removed manually, we apply an appropriate soft-wash treatment to target the remaining spores and organic matter. This gentle, low-pressure application helps slow regrowth and leaves the roof in significantly better condition.
As experienced roofers, we carry out careful checks for any damaged or vulnerable areas identified during the cleaning process. If we spot anything of concern, we’ll flag it and — where appropriate — recommend a Roof Passport assessment to document and score the roof’s condition properly.
Access
Using specialist access and cleaning equipment, RoofHQ can normally complete soft wash cleaning on two- and three-storey properties without the cost and disruption of scaffolding. This is always subject to a site-specific assessment, safe access, weather conditions and the design and condition of the property — we will confirm access requirements before any work is booked.
Why Not Pressure Washing
RoofHQ doesn’t simply clean your roof — we understand how it is built and how it should be cared for. Every property is assessed individually, and we will always recommend the safest and most suitable cleaning method for your specific roof covering and condition.
What’s Included
Combine With A Roof Passport
A soft wash clean is an ideal time to get a Roof Passport assessment carried out on the same visit. While we’re on your roof and can see its condition clearly, we can complete a full inspection, assign a Roof Score and issue your Digital Roof Passport — giving you a complete, evidence-based record of your roof’s condition at the same time as the clean.
The Roof Passport assessment can be added while access to the roof and its cleaned condition make professional inspection particularly useful
Why RoofHQ For Soft Wash Cleaning
The method is informed by how roofs are actually built, how roof coverings age and what can be damaged by aggressive cleaning.
